Americans seem to prefer sun and sand to snow and slopes for the holidays. At least that’s what the most recent study of where we are traveling this holiday seems to indicate.
A destination analysis done by travel insurance giant Allianz Global Assistance shows almost half of the top ten international destinations are in Mexico. They include Cancun, San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta. Other warm weather rounding out the top ten are Nassau in the Bahamas, Aruba, Jamaica and Santo Domingo.
On the domestic side, New York City tops the list of popular destinations for the fourth consecutive year. Despite the cold temperatures and unpredictable weather, the Big Apple is still a huge draw for holiday travelers. Orlando is number two on the domestic list, followed by Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta and Seattle. Las Vegas also made the top ten for the first time this year with travel there increasing by a whopping 44%.
In reporting the study, Allianz also reminds travelers that the holiday season should be a wonderful time of year, but, harsh weather, illness or other unforeseen issues can derail your experience. They don’t want you to forget to purchase trip protection insurance to give yourself the gift of peace of mind. That is always a priceless present.
